We have a requirement for an Operations Manager to  work with a large Energy Services Company based in our clients Glasgow office with travel to Edinburgh and NE England.

General Overview: 

This is a senior management role within Urban Energy, the Operations Manager has overall responsibility for the general management, including H&S, operational, maintenance, customer relations, contract delivery and financial performance for the Newcastle and Edinburgh St James District Energy schemes.

Impact:  

 

There are a number of key outputs for the Operations Manager  to deliver, including:-

 

  • Overall responsibility for all aspects of health & safety, operational performance, commercial management, financial results and customer relationships for the projects.
  • Preparing and managing budgets including forecasting and detailed monthly financial reporting
  • Ensuring all HSE and EA legislative and compliance requirements are fully met
  • Ensuring that the site Health & Safety, Environmental Management and Crisis Management Plans are implemented and fully understood by all staff
  • Implementing and maintaining Management Systems and close out any audit non-conformances within agreed timescales
  • Managing the CMMS system ensuring all assets are recorded and that all statutory, non-statutory and reactive PPM’s are completed on time
  • Ensuring that Policies covering Ethics, Diversity and Inclusion, etc. are understood and complied with at all times.
  • Leading, directing and motivating a skilled multi-disciplinary team 
  • Set challenging individual and team goals, carry out regular performance reviews, produce and implement training plans and develop a site succession plan
  • Acting as a role model whilst promoting core competencies and behaviours.
  • Remaining familiar with all relevant statutory H&S, environmental, technical, engineering best practices, etc. by attending regular training, mentoring sessions, etc. as required

Complexity:  

 

  • Good commercial and financial acumen with experience of managing a budget and people
  • Experience of managing stakeholder relationships ensuring customer satisfaction within commercial / contract requirements
  • Experience of delivering excellent sustained performance to demanding and complex customers

  • Experience of contributing effectively as part of a broader business leadership team
  • Experience of developing and motivating a highly skilled team

 

Ideally the successful candidate will have the following:-

 

  • Degree level / HND in a relevant technical subject (e.g. mechanical or electrical) or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of CHP, Boilers, Chillers, water treatment including ancillary equipment
  • Safety management/leadership including duty holder responsibilities
  • Experience of HSE and EA legislation and Guidance Notes
  • Experience of managing budgets and people
  • Ability to build positive relationships at all levels
  • Experience of managing operational compliance (gas, electrical, pressure systems etc)
  • Strong presentation, influencing and motivational skills
  • Excellent attention to details and understanding of risk
  • Collaborative and an effective team player
  • Ability to use standard software packages e.g. MS Office, to an intermediate level
  • Full Driving Licence essential
