International Oil & Gas Operator

Job title: Environmental Manager

Tentative Start Date: March 2019 –ASAP

Location: Maputo, Mozambique - Office based

Rotation Schedule: Rotator 28*28

Job Summary:

This position is the leader of the Country Environmental Team with direct responsibility for environmental regulatory affairs.

Qualifications:

  • Good working knowledge of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards and implementation of such
  • Minimum of 7-10 years relevant experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-cultural situations and with cross-discipline professionals
  • Ability to develop and implement sustainable processes
  • Fluency in English and strong working knowledge of Portuguese , with the ability to write in both languages

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with Government Officials
  • Coordinate and oversee all government requests related to the environment
  • Provide Project personnel accurate information related to Mozambique regulatory requirements

  • Support the environmental and social lender due diligence process
  • Ensure necessary environmental licenses are obtained

  • Monitor and report the implementation of all EMP’s
  • Work with contractors to ensure environmental management programs/ systems align with Company requirements (regulatory, international and Company)
  • Recommend environmental metrics and performance measures based on Company requirements
  • Ensure there is a system in place for the collection, assessment, and reporting of environmental data to line management
  • Participate in environmental incident investigations and share lessons learned
  • Provide recommendations for environmental mitigations to work planning as part of the risk assessment process

  • Management of 3rd party environmental audits and implementation of corrective actions
  • Define environmental training requirements

  • Ensure delivery of environmental training and monitor the effectiveness
  • Input into Project and Camp Orientations
  • Input into Emergency Response Planning (including Oil Spill Response)
  • Develop environmental procedures/tools/processes and methodologies to assess their effectiveness
  • Provide environmental input into Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Annual Plan Development

Education

Environmental or related Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree a plus
