The Category Manager (CM) plays a critical role in realising Downstream Procurement's (DP) objective to become a world-class procurement organisation with leading capability in category management that deliver relevant, value-adding category strategies to the company's Downstream businesses. Responsible for end-to-end category performance and supplier performance management; leading a team of specialist category management professionals, operating in accordance with corporate policies and processes, defined governance and delegations of authority.
Your focus is to create transformative category strategies, based on supply market expertise, current and future business needs and global category spend and innovation opportunities that identify impactful business value (with a focus on savings through effective category deployment).

Essential education
- University degree or equivalent in a technical or related equivalent business discipline.
Essential experience and job requirements
- Demonstrated experience at delivering business benefits to an organisation through effective category management
- Mastery in:
o Category management (category strategy development and category strategy delivery)
o Sourcing
o Contracting
o Tactical procurement
o Supplier management
- Collaborating with multiple sites or locations to drive common solutions.
- Successful delivery working in cross functional teams
- Successful delivery working in cross geography, virtual, teams
- P2P processes, and working knowledge of SAP functionality
- Excellent working knowledge of broader business context, operations, and priorities within the category scope
Desirable criteria & qualifications
- MCIPS/ISM qualification
- Experience in Ariba e-sourcing or other e-procurement tools is desirable.
- Technical experience and competency in the category is preferable
- Local language skills to support stakeholder communications are preferable
- Very good written and oral English language skills
- Commercial negotiation skills.
