Our client is an Oil & Gas Operator who have a pending drilling campaign offshore WA. They are currently looking for a Drilling Manager who will be responsible for all aspects of Drilling and major wellwork for the offshore wells.  This position will ensure that all drilling and major well work operations are conducted in a safe, environmentally sound manner and in compliance with Australian law, and Company guidelines.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the overall supervision of:

  • Well design and planning.
  • Preparation of well-cost estimates
  • Preparation of drilling programs to meet the rig schedule.
  • Operating within the Company procurement process to identify and procure the most cost effective materials for project(s).
  • Liaison with the relevant statutory authorities as appropriate to the post.
  • Ensuring that all materials are fit for purpose and available in a timely manner.
  • Continuous monitoring and reporting of drilling and related operations.
  • Audits drilling operations and processes on a continuous basis to demonstrate compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Approval of invoices relating to wells being drilled up to the posts level of approval authority.
  • Daily monitoring of drilling, testing and well intervention operations and provide technical support to offshore personnel.
  • Prepare Partner and Management Daily Reports.
  • Monitor and ensure the accuracy of daily cost and time tracking.
  • Continuous review of operations to demonstrate cost reduction and performance.
  • Liaise with other Project Team disciplines to provide advice on conceptual project designs and their interface with drilling.
  • Timely end of well reporting and material reconciliation.
The ideal candidate will have significant demonstrable experience in a similar role with an Oil & Gas E&P business, including the following:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in an engineering or science discipline.
  • Oil Field operational drilling experience primarily focused on offshore drilling, completion and well testing operations.
  • Familiarity with production and water injection completions
  • Familiarity with sub-sea and surface wellhead technology
  • Previous international experience an advantage
  • Competent in all aspects of well planning and Drilling Engineering
  • Knowledge of relevant procurement process
  • Excellent project management skill.
