Senior Electrical Engineer / Australia

We are working closely with a Global Engineering Design Consultancy in Perth to identify a Senior Electrical Engineer with Mining and Water Infrastructure experience in Australia.

Minimum 12 month contract with potential for an extension, the successful candidate will be based in Perth and work collaboratively within a project design team, and be involved in leading the electrical design for a number of projects and Clients in WA.

Your responsibilities in the role

• Work collaboratively within a multidiscipline project team
• Design calculations for electrical system such as Fault level, voltage drop, equipment sizing, lighting, earthing, cable sizing
• Development of load lists, equipment list, cable schedules
• Development of electrical power distribution concepts, SLD, schematic diagrams
• Development of electrical layouts, hazardous area classification layouts
  Electrical system protection design, relay selection, settings inc. creating of relay specific setting files, protection coordination
• Specifications and data sheets for electrical equipment
• Technical bid evaluation, Vendor drawing review, Factory inspection tests on electrical equipment
• Control of electrical design budget and schedule
• Technical supervision of electrical designers and draftspersons
• Developing resourcing estimates to perform project tasks

What you need to be successful in the role

• Electrical Engineering Degree or equivalent
• Professional Membership or eligibility for membership
• 10+ years’ experience in the Australian Mining and Oil & Gas Sector
• Electrical HV and LV detailed substation design experience
• Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation equipment
• Knowledge of WA Mines Safety and Inspection regulations
• Understanding of relevant Australian and International Standards
• Experience with brownfields projects and provision of site support
• Experience using Powerfactory and/or ETAP
• Load Flow and Fault Studies, Dynamic Studies inc. Motor Starting, Protection coordination and Arc Flash studies  
• Ability to problem-solve effectively
• Ability to travel to site if required
• Maintaining the highest levels of health and safety
