Job Summary:

The Lead Mechanical Engineer independently evaluates, selects and applies engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to concurrent engineering projects. This position may manage one or more engineers and/or designers and will be responsible for interacting with Project Managers and other discipline engineers on projects. Capable of functioning as the Lead Mechanical Engineer for execution of pipelines or facilities work for small, mid- sized and large scale upstream and midstream oil & gas projects. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will also work as part of a project team in the execution of capital projects for new construction as well as facility upgrades and improvements. This position will report to the Engineering Manager of EPC Services and is located in The Woodlands, TX.

 

Primary Job Function:

  • Coordinate mechanical engineering/design executions, planning, and interfaces to ensure that activities are completed on schedule and within budget
  • Review and approve drawings, calculations, specifications and other engineering deliverables that are driven by the project or client. This includes piping and pump system calculations, pipe stress analysis, technical review of mechanical engineering/drafting work and oversight of overall mechanical engineering/drafting functions.
  • Prepare technical documentation for suppliers/vendors and coordinate with associated vendors on mechanical related material ordering
  • Prepare and approve project execution and quality plans, design basis memorandums, RFQ documents for pipeline or facility materials and equipment list and bid evaluations.
  • Coordinate with project engineers/drafters and other discipline engineers to ensure consistency in execution of project work
  • Organize and conduct project meetings along with development of technical progress report reviews
 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of detailed engineering and design experience
  • Knowledge and understanding in one or more of the following project types: Natural Gas and Liquids gathering systems, feeder systems, transmission systems, and/or distribution systems
 

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • PE license is required

  • Possesses sound judgment, highly developed management skills and organizational/interpersonal skills
  • Ability to conduct presentations/trainings
  • Ability to demonstrate written and oral communication skills; excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Possesses strong technical and design skills; demonstrates the ability to coordinate and work with multidisciplinary teams and deal with complex issues
  • Maintains effective working relationships
  • Ability to prepare and interpret design reports, recognize problems, and define and evaluate solutions
  • Ability to mentor entry level staff within Strike`s EPC team
 

Other Criteria:

  • Must be willing to travel to project sites on an as-needed basis
  • May be required to be out of town for multiple days at a time
  • Must Comply with Strike’s policies and procedures
  • Must Comply with Strike’s Drug & Alcohol Policy - maintaining favorable drug testing results throughout employment
  • Must perform job safely with respect to others, property and individual safety
  • Authorized to work in the United States
