Overview

We are looking for Commissioning Leads at various project locations across the US, for varying durations and time periods. The responsibilities of a Commissioning Lead will depend on the size and scope of the project. The Commissioning Lead will serve as Owner/Client representative based for managing the Dry/Wet commissioning teams, and:



    • Ensure that all safety procedures are followed and safety standards are met


    • Communicate efficiently with stakeholders.


    • Ensure all daily work activities are documented


    • Ensure that adequate resources required for commissioning activities are available based on the schedule and budget


    • Successfully pre- commission, commission, and start up the facility


    • Demonstrate leadership in a team based environment


    • Act as a mentor and source of technical resources


    • Monitor commissioning activities for progress, adherence to procedures, safe work processes, data sheet completion and proper test equipment


    • Stress the importance of near misses reporting and the project use of these reports to the team on a regular basis (lead by issuing and discussing near misses)


    • Provide visible leadership regarding site and employee safety


    • Manage the safety program implementing zero accidents


    • Manage and award individual spot safety awards and keep accurate and updated records of these awards


    • Ensure that all owner, provincial and / or federal safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned areas of commissioning


    • Create Safety and Quality matrix relevant to the project


    • Support and facilitate a highly effective, collaborative environment with seamless, open communication across all stakeholder groups


    • Manage the Budget for areas under control and submit information as required to the Project Manager


    • Monitor and manage turnover book assembly on an ongoing basis to ensure timely completion of documentation


    • Notify Project Manager of items that could impact budget in a timely manner to implement corrective action as required


    • Manage the overall schedule for development and implementation of commissioning within the assigned project


    • Review schedule to ensure that sufficient resources are allotted to each team to complete their activities in accordance with the current schedule


    • Assign tasks to commissioning personnel in a clear and organized fashion


    • Ensure that the commissioning teams under your responsibility are deployed correctly to minimize travel, excessive overtime and to the meet the project’s commissioning schedule


    • Notify Project Manager of items that could impact schedule in a timely manner to implement corrective action as required


    • Ensure the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation


    • Review and ensure that daily reports from each team are submitted on time and is accurate and includes the correct information


    • Verify through reports from the commissioning discipline leads that reporting is completed correctly



Responsibilities

Knowledge acquired through specialized courses in construction technology, management and work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described below



    • Commissioning Practices and Principles Knowledge


    • Knowledge of multi- discipline commissioning operations


    • Relevant construction-related machines and tools


    • Use of contractors and contractor responsibilities contained in contract documents


    • Government compliance standards


    • Local labour laws and unionized labour


    • Safety, Quality and Environmental Knowledge


    • Current industry quality standards



 

Qualifications



    • Minimum 5 years of progressive, relevant experience on commissioning projects in an inspection, planning, coordinating and / or managing capacity


    • Demonstrated leadership skills in a team- based environment, with at least 3 years of experience leading team


    • Pipeline and facility construction experience is essential


    • Strong oral and written communication skills
