QC E&I Inspector

Job Description

  • The QC E&I Specialist is seen as a vital member of the Projects Team who will, through working closely with both the IA team and the construction contractors, improve all aspects of Quality Control (Electrical & Instrumentation disciplines) activities within Projects site construction areas. Main responsibilities will be:
  • Ensure that all work executed by the construction contractor is carried out in a professional, safe & environmentally friendly manner at all times.
  • Provide assurance that all construction activities are performed in full compliance with required Codes/Standards/Specifications and Engineering Drawings
  • Assist in the preparation, review and implementation of risk assessments and method statements for planned construction activities
  • Ensure the correct implementation of the IA Control of Work Standard (including the Permit to Work system) at all construction sites
  • Monitor day-to-day construction activities to ensure that planned progress is being met and identify necessary mitigating actions to recover progress delays
  • Utilize the established Management of Change (MOC) and Site Technical Query (STQ) procedures for addressing construction changes/issues in the field
  • Verify that materials are at site as planned, preserved and prepared for delivery to the contractors and follow up contractor in this respect
  • Ensure that all material movements are documented and reporting any shortage, overage or damaged material in cooperation with Construction and Material Control
  • Interface with other key personnel in the Projects team
  • Identify and report all electrical/instrumentation integrity anomalies to the QC Supervisor
  • Perform inspections and prepare punchlists; and ensure punchlist items are cleared in a timely manner and completed in accordance with Codes/Standards/Specifications and Engineering Drawings
  • Conduct audits with the support of the QC Supervisor, on contractors construction activities, camps and fabrication facilities
  • Planning and Supervision of sub-contractors daily work schedules
  • Area Authority for signing permits
  • Supervision of National E&I Inspectors
  • Follow the requirements of the Engineering Work Pack through to completion
  • Ensure the guidelines of GoC Certification are being followed
  • Witness and sign off GoC Certificates
  • Take part in MC1 walkdowns
  • Assist Engineering and Commissioning in SH1 completion
  • Ensure that all field marked up drawings are correct and all information has been identified
  • Provide and participate in the provision of mentoring and training of nationals
  • Ensure detailed handover notes are prepared for "back to back" at end of rotation
  • This is a rotational assignment - working on either a 3x3 or a 4x4 week rotation system (to be decided by IA Projects Management)
  • Normal working is 12 hours per day; working every day whilst on rotation

Personal Specification

  • College/University degree standard in Electrical engineering or other relevant subject (certified evidence of 10 years relevant experience in a similar role may be acceptable in place of a university degree)
  • 10 years plus experience in construction activities within the hydrocarbon industry and pipeline construction (in Electrical/Instrumentation disciplines). Gathering pipeline construction experience is preferred (e.g. manifolds, well-heads etc)
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in engineering within the hydrocarbon industry and pipelines
  • ATEX Qualified
  • Engineering experience
  • Commissioning experience
  • Very good interpersonal communication skills, both vertically and horizontally in the organisation
  • Open-minded and good team-player
  • Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel etc)
  • Must be physically and mentally fit for working in a remote desert environment
  • Must have valid driving licence
  • Language Skills:English - fluent (read and write)
  • French - preferred
