Reporting to the project Lead Civil Structural Engineer. The senior engineer will form part of a multidiscipline project team and as such interface working with the other disciplines is essential on the project
Conceptual Studies, Basic Engineering, FEED, Detailed Design and EPC phases of the project for a UK Petroleum/Chemical Refinery.
The technical requirement for this position is to be a hands on Senior Engineer who is able to work independently in directing a team of junior engineers, CAD designers and the workshare team to deliver bespoke design solutions for the existing UK Petroleum/Chemical Refinery. To this end the Senior Engineer must be competent in the design of all major engineering materials, in particular concrete, steel and masonry.
The Senior Engineer should also be familiar with surface water drainage, oily water drainage, foul drainage and general civils work.
Responsible for the Safety, accuracy and completeness of the design prepared.
People management skills within the project team are critical and should be excellent.
Proposal work including the development of designs, work scope splits or interface definition, establishment of deliverables, IT application usage and man hour estimates.
Produce weekly/monthly reports as required by the projects and/or lead engineer advising on matters of manpower requirements, productivity, earned value, schedule and areas of concern.
Possess a sound technical knowledge of most of the following:
Work planning, monitoring and reporting.
Applicable European and American codes and Standards.
Major oil company standards.
Construction methods and constructability.
Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent as a minimum
Chartered Engineer Status preferred
A proven track record and experience in civil structural design on multi discipline projects.
Experience of 3D modelling.
There will be some requirement to attend site for meetings, site surveys and to provide support to the onsite team as and when required.
